Las Cruces, NM Full-Time Flexible Scheduling

Receptionist — Patient Experience & Revenue Operations

You are the first person every patient sees or hears. Your interaction determines whether they come back, whether they leave a five-star review, and whether their insurance claim processes cleanly. This is not a support role. This is the front line of revenue operations at the most trusted urgent care clinic in Las Cruces.

The Opportunity

Covenant Clinics has been the first and most trusted urgent care provider in Las Cruces for twenty years. Every patient who walks through our doors or calls our phone line forms their impression of this clinic in the first thirty seconds. That impression is yours to create. You are not answering phones and filing paperwork. You are running the patient experience from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave, and you are ensuring that every encounter translates into a clean insurance claim that actually gets paid.

Here is the reality most clinics will not tell you: the front desk determines revenue. Every error in a patient's demographic data, every missed insurance verification, every uncollected co-pay creates a denied claim that the clinic may never recover. At Covenant, we treat the receptionist role with the seriousness it deserves. You are not support staff. You are revenue operations. The accuracy of your work directly determines whether the providers who see patients actually get compensated for their care.

Our clinic runs on a proprietary technology platform called Portal. It handles digital check-in, lobby displays, and real-time patient flow. You will manage multi-channel communication every day: walk-ins arriving at the front desk, phone calls, online scheduling requests, and patient portal messages. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment where you are coordinating all of it simultaneously.

Patient satisfaction is not abstract here. It is measured. Your interactions directly influence our Google Reviews and online reputation, and we track it. We also pay for it: Quarterly performance bonuses are tied to patient satisfaction metrics. When patients have a great experience, you benefit directly.

Scheduling That Works for You

Our clinic operates 8 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week. We offer flexible shift structures: full twelve-hour shifts and potential half-day options based on clinic needs, or a mixed schedule. You choose the structure that fits your life. What we require is dependability. When you are here, you are fully present. When you commit to a shift, you show up.

Growth Paths

This role is not a dead end. Clear advancement tracks include promotion to lead receptionist with supervisory responsibilities, cross-training in medical assisting for clinical skill development, and transition into billing coordination for those who want to go deeper into revenue cycle management. As we launch our behavioral health program, we are creating a dedicated behavioral health front desk role — a growth path for team members who excel in managing sensitive patient interactions and complex scheduling workflows.

What You Will Actually Do

  • Greet every patient warmly — in person and on the phone. You set the tone for the entire visit
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits (VOB) at scheduling and again at check-in
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and patient balances at time of service
  • Enter accurate demographic and insurance information for clean claim submission
  • Manage the clinic schedule: coordinate walk-ins with online appointments, balance provider availability
  • Answer phone calls, return messages, and manage patient inquiries promptly
  • Monitor the waiting area for patient comfort and facility security
  • Coordinate specialist referrals and follow-up scheduling
  • Manage multi-channel patient communication: phone, walk-in, online scheduling, patient portal
  • Support Google Review workflow — follow up with patients on satisfaction
